The family grocery business began in 1957 when Ronald Nelson bought a small grocery store on the west side of Pocatello. His family built a tradition of hard work, family values, and customer service where employees and customers become part of the family. Ron's oldest son, Todd, worked side by side with his father learning these principles of business. In 1991, Todd purchased Bi-Lo's and with his son-in-law, Barry, continued the family tradition.
In 2009, Todd stepped aside and Barry & Jacque Dutton took over ownership, still working to offer Pocatello/Chubbuck the finest in quality service by family run principles.
In 2015, Barry and Jacque's daughter, Lindsay, had an idea to simplify dinner time. Meals in a Box was born as a way for our customers to simplify and enjoy family dinner around the table every night. The Bi-Lo team has loved to see this new program grow, and hopes that it is a way to continue to instill family values in the community.
Today, Nel's Bi-Lo still operates as a family business where employees and customers are treated like family, where good old customer service has never gone out of fashion.
Nel's Bi-Lo was voted #1 Grocery store by our community in the Idaho State Journal Reader Choice Awards 2017 and 2018! Thank you!
